My Creative Spirit
According to My Creative Type, I am an Adventurer. Easily inspired, boundless energy, fast learner, and a natural storyteller, I am always looking for ways channel my creative energy. Below are just a few of the avenues I have pursued over the years.
Writing
Since I was a child, I have enjoyed reading, playing video games, and exploring different worlds. As I read stories of different characters and played more games, I found myself daydreaming a good bit. At first, my daydreams focused on inserting myself into stories I loved. This even culminated in fanfiction for my favorite television shows and games like Gundam Wing, Digimon, and Pokemon. However, soon, a new story started to take shape, with original characters and new worlds.
I have slowly worked on my original idea, adding to my world and characters with the hope of being published as a fantasy novel. In the mean time, I have written the short story Sherlock Holmes and the Missing Shoe for the Sherlock Society of Dallas for their Sherlock Holmes and fairy tales anthology book. Using the story of Cinderella as inspiration, Sherlock and Watson must figure out what has happened to the missing young woman a visiting diplomat fell in love with.
As a history teacher, I find myself becoming a storyteller and writer quite often. I take difficult and complex pieces of history and break it down into easy to manage chunks that both inform and entertain. Even though I have not published my first novel yet, I am able to keep my creativity alive in multiple ways.
Painting and Sketching
While in school I found myself itching to keep my hands busy. Any time we were allowed to draw for a class assignment, my heart skipped a beat, and I immediately began planning out my next masterpiece. With my formal training, I started copying what I saw around me. I read books, tutorials, and eventually developed my own (still evolving) art style.

Crochet
When I was younger, my mom had taught me how to knit, embroider (sew), and attempted to teach me to crochet. After many years of neglect, I decided I did want to learn crochet and taught myself using the internet and my mother to learn how to crochet in the round. I decided that blankets, scarves, and other similar projects were too simple. Instead, I opted to make stuffed animals. I still crochet for fun and as gifts for people in my life. Currently I am starting a small crochet club at my high school to pass the skill on to interested students.
